Isaiah
Gunshot Survivor / Spinal Cord Injury

Isaiah

Izzy is one of the most resilient people I have ever met. The control this man has over his mind, and focus he approaches his recovery with is truly 1/1. He will, without a doubt, shock people in his recovery.

Brandon, HTGR Founder

Isaiah was at a restaurant with family when a stranger opened fire in a senseless act of gun violence. He was shot nine times. In seconds, a father of three who spent every free moment running around and playing with his kids became a paraplegic, fighting for his life.

In the year that followed, Isaiah lost nearly everything. Doctors told him he would never walk again. Most people would have given up. Isaiah chose to fight.

Isaiah pursued stem cell therapy in Colombia, a regenerative procedure that when combined with proper physiotherapy, can help heal damaged tissue around the spinal cord and offer the best fighting chance at walking again. The community rallied behind him. Isaiah has now completed all four of his stem cell treatments.

The results have been remarkable. Since receiving treatment, Isaiah has regained a good amount of motor function, nerve sensation, and bladder control. He is using a walker and braces to simulate walking — an uncommon milestone this early in recovery. Progress that doctors once said was impossible.

Through it all, Isaiah has remained resilient, driven, and deeply stoic. He prioritizes meditation and mindfulness alongside his physical rehabilitation, approaching his recovery with a quiet strength that inspires everyone around him. Every rep, every session, every small victory is fueled by a single dream: to one day walk his daughter down the aisle.
